Skyline update..............
Since the 3rd round of the Pro street drag series in June 2008 and my clutch being destroyed, a few changes have been made to the car and this has reaped rewards. A new twin metal plate Exedy clutch was fitted in July 2008, along with lightened flywheel. This clutch can cope with more power than the car is running currently and is built to last, can handle high RPM launches from the start line and should benefit me with a sharp response when changing gear. I went to Santa pod to test the new clutch, also to test the new ECU which was paid for by Localchips.com and raised my power to nearly the 400bhp mark.After 5 runs up the 1/4 mile strip I came home with a new personal best time of 12.468 @ 114 mph and very happy, especially considering I was having traction issues on the day getting away from the line.
. ROUND 4 - Pro street drag series - 28th of September 2008 - Shakespeare raceway. With high hopes of winning more points in the series and another trophy after my successful Santa pod trip, I wasn`t disappointed.Arriving early and setting up my car, settling myself with coffee and taking in the atmosphere, I made my first run up the 1/4 mile strip at 11:01am, 1 minute into the start of our qualifying period.I ran up against a friend in his Mitsubishi Evo III and fluffed my start, mucked up my gear changes, lost concentration and generally done everything wrong!!!I arrived back at our base camp with a very unhappy look on my face as I knew I really needed to take advantage of the cool morning air with my turbo charged car, but had lost the plot through nervousness at the line!!We went and got our timing slips from race control.............guess what?......................I`d only gone and found a new personal best of 12.409 @ 108 mph!!!!! Not sure how but I had!!!So, that run was good enough to win my class on the day, secure another 10 points, allow me to take another 1st place trophy home and basically put me into 2nd place for the overall street class and check into hotel cloud 9 for the night.
